First-Year Student Profile: Dominique Noriega

Where did you complete your undergraduate education? What did you study? 

I studied Neuroscience, Chemistry, and Women’s Studies at the University of Rochester.

Specialty/ potential specialty:

I would be lying if I said I didn’t have my ~eyes~ on ophthalmology

What inspired you to study medicine? 

The only thing I love more than human physiology is talking to people. .What better way to combine the two?

How does it feel to actually start med school? 

It is truly satisfying to finally dig into the material I’ve been hoping to study since high school. What a privilege!

Who is your favorite professor at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, so far and why? 

Dr. Boutin-Foster is my idol! She is the embodiment of warmth and humanity ugh I appreciate her so much for taking the time to meet with so many of us just to check in.

What are your hopes for your remaining years at SUNY Downstate? 

I look forward to becoming further integrated into the community and continuing to make this place a home/growth plate.
