SUNY Downstate Alumni Association Appoints New Executive Director: Kristian R. Balgobin

Kristian R. Balgobin will succeed Eric T. Shoen-Ukre as the Executive Director of SUNY Downstate College of Medicine’s Alumni Association. Mr. Balgobin who was born in Barbados and raised in Brooklyn, went on to study Psychology at the University of San Francisco. Kristian has worked with several nonprofit organizations including the Gender and Sexuality Center, ALFA Educational Society, Synergy Today and Foundation for Sustainable Development. Through his involvement in these organizations, Kristian displayed his passion for mental health in the LGBTQ community, the empowerment of youth and Caribbean Americans, and sustainable development.

Kristian’s position as the Administrative Associate and Social Media Manager allowed him to establish great relationships with students, alumni, and colleagues. Past President of the Alumni Association SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, Dr. Suzanne S. Mirra, is confident in Kristian’s ability to work with the Board to provide the support the association is known for. As for Kristian, this role brings elation. He is ecstatic to continue his work with this organization in a new capacity.
