The Alumni Association Awards Full-Year Research Scholarships!
Thanks to our generous donors the Alumni Fund of the Alumni Association-College of Medicine has been offering a scholarship to support full-time research for medical students for the past 19 years! The award allows students to conduct full-time research for one academic year, with financial support from the Alumni Association. Though the Alumni Association Board of Trustees typically funds one student, this year we had two outstanding candidates!
Takisha Morancy was awarded $30,000 in the 2021-2022 Alumni Association Full Year Research Scholarship program. Her research on Symmetric Facial Nerve Reanimation in Rats, which will be conducted at SUNY Downstate, was voted the top prize by the members of the Alumni Association Board of Trustees.
Christopher D. George, our second-place prize winner was awarded $10,000 in the 2021-2022 Alumni Association Full Year Research Scholarship program. His research project, Revitalizing Early-Stage Melanoma Treatment: Using Patient and Tumor Characteristics to Predict Distant Metastasis will be conducted in the Netherlands.
